Konius, George Edwardovich

1862-

Russian composer; born at Moscow. Studied at the Mpscow Conservatory under Arensky and Taneiev. In 1891 he became professor at the Moscow Conservatory, where he taught for eight years, and in 1902 became professor at the Music School and the Philharmonic Society. His writings include a cantata in memory of Alexander III.; a symphonic poem, entitled From the World of Illusion; an orchestral suite, Child-life; the ballet, Daita; over thirty songs and about twenty piano-pieces.
