Gantvoort, Arnold T.

1857-

Teacher and writer of music; was born in Amsterdam, and at the age of nineteen came to America, where he has established himself as a teacher, having been connected with colleges at Bowling Green, Kentucky; Oxford, Ohio, and Piqua, Ohio. In 1894 he became the head of the preparatory department for teachers of publicschool music in the College of Music, Cincinnati, where he published a series of music-readers for publicschool children. From 1891 to 1894 he was president of the Ohio State Music Teachers' Association. In 1889 he was president of the Music Teachers' National Association, which met that year in Cincinnati. He is at present president of the Cincinnati College of Music.
