Zech, Frederick, jr.

American pianist and composer; born in Philadelphia. His boyhood was spent in San Francisco, and in 1877 he went to Berlin, where he studied piano under Theodor Kullak and musical composition under Franz Neumann and Professor Breslauer. He taught piano in Kullak's Conservatory of Music from 1878 to 1880. Returning to America he took up his residence in San Francisco. He has become prominent as a teacher, pianist and conductor of orchestral and choral societies. Among his compositions are two symphonies; concertoverture for orchestra, two concerts for piano and orchestra, trio for piano, violin and violoncello, etc.
