Junck, Benedetto

1852-1905

Italian composer; born at Turin. His father forced him to pursue a commercial career. He decided to devote himself to music, and after a year's military service, his father being now dead, he went to Milan in 1872, where he studied at the Conservatory under Bazzini and Mazzucato. He wrote songs, notably La Simona, a collection of twelve songs published in 1878; romances; violinsonatas in D and G; a string quartet in E; and other compositions.
