1793-1878
Pianist and composer; born at Coblentz; the son of an organist, who was his first teacher. He was a pupil in the Paris Conservatory, and lived in Paris from 1819 to 1837. He was a popular pianist, and composer of piano-music. For many years he enjoyed great renown, though his productions are now almost entirely forgotten, as they were mostly of a superficial nature. In 1837 he returned to Coblentz and died there in 1878. His compositions include rondos, sonatas and fantasias.
