Composer of vocal music; born in Vienna. In 1869 he was made the conductor of the Mannergesangverein, of Vienna, for which he has composed many choruses that are now well known. Among his works are Eine Operetta; Der Schlosserkonig; Der Kritische Tag; the cantata, Balken bilder, for soloists, male chorus and orchestra; as well as many part-songs, among them the well-known Six altneiderlandische Volksleider; Das Herzklopfen; Erinnerungen; Frohliche  Armuth, for male chorus and orchestra; two songs from Der Trompeter von Sakkingen, with cornet solo; and Jagdlied, with accompaniment of four horns. He has written besides some excellent piano-music.
