Woycke, Eugen Adalbert

German pianist and composer; born at Dantzic. He studied at the Leipsic Conservatory from 1864 to 1867 under Moscheles, Plaidy, Hauptmann, Reinecke and Richter. He went to Edinburgh, where he took up teaching and there married Emily D. Hamilton, a concert-violinist. Woycke has published a number of piano works, among them seven sonatas, an Andante, Au rouet, L'oisillon, eight Novellettes, and a collection of six characteristic pieces.
