Composer of instrumental music; born in Strasburg in 1739. He studied under Richter; went to Paris where he lived the rest of his life, and was known as cellist, bassoon and trombone player in various theatres. For eight years he was a professor of singing at the Conservatory. His compositions are quartets and quintets for strings, quintets for windinstruments and piano, piano trios, and sonatas for violin.
