Valentini, Giovanni

Italian composer of sacred music of the Seventeenth Century, about whom very little is known. He held the position of organist to Sigismund III., King of Poland and Sweden, and later was Court musician at Vienna. His compositions include masses; a magnificat; psalms for twenty-four voices in six choirs; and a Stabat Mater, much of which is in manuscript; besides many motets and concertos.
