Russian pianist; born at Odessa. Was a pupil of Franz Kessler, and then, upon recommendation of Anton Rubinstein, he became a pupil of L. Brassin and of Sophie Menter at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, where he remained for five years. He made his debut at Hamburg with Tschaikowsky's concerto in B flat, played under the composer's direction. He has made many tours of England and the Continent.
