Rosellen, Henri

French pianist and popular composer; was the son of a piano manufacturer at Paris, and studied that instrument at the Conservatory under Pradher and Zimmermann, also various branches of musical theory under Dourlen, Fetis and Halevy, and while there won prizes for both harmony and piano-playing. He became successful as a teacher in Paris, and published numerous parlor pieces for piano above the average, including many transcriptions, variations, fantasias on operatic airs, some characteristic pieces, etudes, and a method for the piano, published in French and English; also a trio for piano, violin and cello.
