Ronconi, Domenico

Italian operatic tenor; born at Lendinara di Pollesine; was a pupil of Pacchierotti and Babini, and made his debut in Venice about 1796, after which he sang in other Italian cities, Paris, St. Petersburg and Munich, where he remained ten years as Court vocalist and singing-teacher to the King's children. His public career covered a period extending up to 1829, when he founded a singing school in Milan, and became celebrated as a teacher, also publishing vocal exercises and arias. He died in Milan. All of his three sons were singers; the second one, Felice, born in Venice, 1811, was known as a teacher at Würzburg, Frankfort and Milan. He published a vocal method and some songs, and died in St. Petersburg, 1845.
