Ritter, Theodor

French pianist; born in Paris. He finished his studies under Liszt and made his debut at an early age. He toured in concert through various European countries, including Germany, Belgium and England. Some of his compositions for piano became popular, and his dramatic scenas for voice and orchestra, Le Paradis Perdu, Le Sacrifice, and Mephistopheles, were produced with considerable success. His operas, Marianne, and La dea resorta, were failures.
