Regis, Johannes

Belgian composer of note; lived in the latter half of the Fifteenth Century, and was a contemporary of Okeghem, Caron and Busnois. In a collection of fragments of masses by various composers esteemed in their day, published by Petrucci in 1508, is found a credo; and in other collections by the same printer are several motets and a four-part song by this composer. The Pontifical Chapel at Rome also contains some manuscript masses by Regis.
