Nadaud, Gustav

Born at Roubaix, France; entered upon a business career, but some songs which he had written met with such success that he gave his time henceforth to writing and publishing both words and music of chansons. Beside fifteen volumes of song-poems he wrote three operettas, Le Docteur Vieuxtemps; La Voliere; and Porte et fentre. Nadaud died in Paris. In 1861 the cross of the Legion of Honor was conferred upon him and since his death a monument has been erected to him in Roubaix.
