Hanscom, E. W.

1848-

American composer; born at Durham, Maine. His musical education has been obtained in his native state and in London, Berlin and Vienna. His compositions are mostly religious solos and part-songs. He has published a cycle of six excellent songs, besides a beautiful lyric. Among his most popular songs are Go, Rose; In Her Golden Hair; A Lullaby; and two Christmas Songs, with violin obbligato.
