Composer; born at Weimar; studied under Topfer and Gebhardi, and afterwards Liszt. In 1855 he was chorusmaster of the Weimar opera, and next leader of the theatre orchestra at Magdeburg, and successively held similar positions at Berlin, Breslau and Chemnitz.
