Calkin, John Baptiste

1827-

English composer, pianist and organist. He studied with his father. From 1846 to 1853 was organist, precentor and choirmaster at St. Columba's College, Ireland, and afterward at several churches. Is a member of the Philharmonic Society and professor at the Guildhall School of Music. His works consist of sacred compositions, comprising services, anthems and introits, also many partsongs, glees and songs, beside pieces for strings, organ and piano.
